The aim of the workshop, in preparation for a joint collective monograph on concepts of Slavic national epic in 19th century Europe, was to highlight the specific role of national actors in transnational and translational networks in the transfer of relevant ideas across Europe. At the same time, it was to study the role of the comparison and translation of these epics in the system of the respective forming national literatures or cultures.
