    Mass emigration of Roma from Slovakia to the countries of Western Europe became a serious political problem for Slovakia with its entry to the European Union at the turn of the 21st century. The paper analyses the problem of Roma migrations 'from below',dealing with the economic and social reasons that lead Roma to seek asylum out of Slovakia.
