The study focuses on the thinking and perception about traditional dancing when put on the stage in the Czech Republic. The paper views the cultural backround, as well as the political and social contexts which create specific conditions for existence oftraditional dance culture on the stage. There is a discourse of cultural heritage preservation, political uses of folklore and the recreational aim of the folk movement.
