Apart from the premieres of Mozart’s Don Giovanni and La Clemenza di Tito, Prague’s Estates Theatrenwitnessed first performance of yet another important, today unjustly little known work – Louis Spohr’snFaust, in 1816, under the baton of Carl Maria von Weber. The article, based on the period documents,ndeals with the history of the origins of Faust and its Prague premiere in 1816, Prague premiere of itsnsecond setting, as well as the modern times revival of its first setting in 2016.
