Ethnomusicological Crossroads at the Outset of the 21st Centrury : Hindsight and Prospects of an Ethnological Sub-Discipline on the Example of Two Workplaces in Brno
Original language description
The prevailing direction of both observed institutions in Brno (the Brno branch of the Institute of Ethnology, Academy of Sciences of CZ, the Department of European Ethnology, Faculty of Arts MU) can be defined as the continuity of research focused on traditional folk music and its bearers, beginning from the study of historical materials and their availability to the contemporary bearers from folklore movement. At the same time, the situation in the field is observed in relation to the approach to cultural heritage. The abovementioned facts relate to the research into traditional folk culture and folklorism in Moravian regions. It can be expected that in the future the research focused on town, migration and other themes, which become a natural part of contemporary musicology in our country and abroad, will be more often applied.
