Legacy of Zdeněk Kašpar in musical and dance folklorism in Wallachia
Original language description
Regional identity has been strongly rooted in the minds of the people of Moravian Wallachia. Local folklore in its second existence (that is, in the form of folklorism) has been spread by folklore ensembles. They hand down elements of local culture: traditional folk dances, songs and music, and so they self-identify with the culture of their region. There is a significant role of prominent personalities in the creation and formation of local culture and identity. Let us name Zdeněk Kašpar (1925–2002) who was a leader of the folklore ensemble Jasénka for more than sixty years. Heninfluenced several generations of members and contributed to the cultivation of musical taste of the general public as well. Similar personalities represent small social groups, in our case folklorenensembles, and as such, they often enter the nationwide system of folklore movement. On the examples Z. Kašpar’s field work – dance songs from Lužná and dance from Velké Karlovice: zvŕtaný – we focus on their transformation into the second form for stage rendering.
