Archive research on the issue of lost works of art in the Czech Republic
Original language description
The conference contribution will address archive research in the Czech Republic. The author will describe how researchers within the Documentation Centre for Property Transfers of the Cultural Assets of WW II Victims search for archival documents regarding the seized Jewish property in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia period, with an emphasis on searching for documents regarding seized works of art. This contribution will cover in which archives the Centre performs its research, both within Prague as well as outside of Prague. The author will present a typology of documents which are studied in these archives. Further usage of archive documents will be described. The author will also discuss how materials obtained from research performed by theCentre in foreign archives are compared with documents from Czech archives.
