The book offers a comprehensive history of the Czechoslovak Ocean Shipping Company (COS) from its beginning in the turn 1940s/1950s until the fall of communism. The study is structured according to the different phases of the Cold War and highlights thepolitical aspects that determined COS?s fate. It also offers a brief overview of the maritime branch development after 1989. An integral part of the study is the chapter focused on memories of former Czechoslovak seafarers and presentation of individualships ran by the company.
