Original language description

At the turn of the 19th century the Czech scientific community endeavoured bringing together Slavic scientists with a vision to establish a Slavic scientific community around a new centre – Prague. The programme of Slavic scientific cooperation included establishing common journals and nomenclature, organizing pan-Slavic scientific congresses, exchange of students, etc. The attempt of integrating scientific periphery and creating a new „Slavic science“ , which had both scientific and political goals, never materialized; it can be treated, however as a special case of nationalization of scientific knowledge.
