Czechoslovakism. The Contcept's Blurry History
Original language description
An introductory essay, in which the author tackles the “hazy history” of Czechoslovakism as a historical, ideological and analytical concept. First, he examines existing historical literature on the topic, interested mainly in which aspects and issues of Czechoslovakism have received the most attention in existing research and how authors have approached them and the subject in general. Second, he strives to outline—with the help of conceptual history (Begriffsgeschichte) and one of its foremost representatives, Reinhart Koselleck—what must be taken into account in a systematic understanding of the history of Czechoslovakism as word, concept and historical reality, with its specific polyvalences that dynamically transformed over time. Finally, he provides a general introduction into the structure of the volume and the overall arguments of the individual studies.
