    The x-ray Faraday effect at the L 2,3 edges of the 3d ferromagnets Fe, Co, Ni and of Fe 0.5Ni 0.5 alloy is studied both theoretically and experimentally. We perform ab initio calculations of the x-ray Faraday effect on the basis of the local spin-densityapproximation.
