    The doping of PbWO 4 in shaping its scintillator characteristics.

    In the case of Ce 3+ doping, efficient non-radiative recombination at Ce 3+ sites takes place resulting in a lower light yield and faster luminescence and scintillation response. Th 4+ doping shows all the positive features of trivalent ion doping used previously for PbWO 4 scintillator optimisation.
