Luminescence and scintillation properties of PbWO 4 , XAlO 3 (X=Y, Lu, Y-Lu) and LiBaF 3 based scintillators are reported. The effect of present and often not understood defect states is demonstrated in different scintillator parameters and related measurements are discussed.
