The progress in experimental particle physics and especially the fact that new most powerful particle collider LHC will become operational at CERN in a very near future, together with the potential of the new generation of cosmic ray experiments, createsa situation where the approach from colliders to cosmic rays promises progress in both particle physics with accelerators and cosmic ray physics. That was the motivation for the conference, From Colliders to Cosmic Rays, held in Prague, 7 - 13 September2005. It attracted a very balanced participation from both fields, of 68 physicists. Judging from the reactions of participants expressed during the general discussion at the end of the conference, the program and presented topics fulfilled or even surpassed their expectations. One can only look forward to future meetings when the results from LHC, H.E.S.S., IceCube, Pierre Auger Observatory and other new experiments will be available.

Pokrok v experimentální fyzice částic, zejména skutečnost, že v nejbližší době bude v CERN uveden do provozu dosud nejvýkonnější urychlovač částic LHC spolu s možnostmi experimentů nové generace zkoumajících kosmické záření, vedly k situaci, kdy přístupspojující urychlovače s kosmickým zářením se zdál být slibnou perspektivou jak pro částicovou fyziku na urychlovačích, tak pro fyziku kosmického záření. To se stalo motivací pro uspořádání konference Od urychlovačů ke kosmickému záření, konané v Praze 7.? 13. září 2005. Konference se zúčastnilo 68 fyziků zastupujících rovnoměrně oba obory. Podle reakcí účastníků konference při závěrečné všeobecné diskusi se dá soudit, že program a diskutovaná témata splnily či dokonce předčily jejich očekávání. Lze sejen těšit na podobná setkání v budoucnosti, kdy budou dostupné výsledky z LHC, H.E.S.S., IceCube, observatoře Pierra Augera a dalsích nových experimentů.
