    Volume effect in magnetic properties of the YCo4Si compound

    The magnetic properties of the YCo4Si compound have been investigated at ambient and high pressures. The logarithmic pressure derivative of saturation magnetization Ms can be estimated dln Ms/dp = -3.07 x 10-3 kbar-1. The Curie temperature is also foundto be sensitive to the applied pressure dln Tc/dp -1.25 x 10-3 kbar-1. It is found that the large reduction of the magnetic properties is due to both a chemical and a pressure effect of the Si for Co substitution.

    Byl studován vliv vysokých tlaků na magnetické vlastnosti sloučeniny YCo4Si. Nasycená magnetizace Ms i Curieova teplota Tc s tlakem výrazně klesají. Logaritmická tlaková derivace Ms dosahuje hodnoty dln Ms/dp = -3.07 x 10-3 kbar-1 a dln Tc/dp -1.25 x 10-3 kbar-1. Výrazný pokles magnetických vlastností je důsledkem vlivu chemického tlaku tlaku při substituci křemíku za kobalt i důsledkem vlivu změn objemu při působení vnějšího hydrostatického tlaku
