Shift Guard is an alarm system of the flurescence detector of the Pierre Auger Observatory. This software is a stand-alone multithreaded C++ application to notify shifters in the control room of some important situation or incident. Shift Guard serves asan automatic system to check devices and monitored values. The primary aim of such alarm system is to protect the experimental device (detector) from some endangering situations and to help shifters to operate detector more effectively. Shift Guard communicates with an external system of relays and uses multithreaded approach to be flexible and extendable. It uses light and sound signals to inform of alarms.
