    Broadband OPCPA pumped by ultra-narrowband gaseous iodine laser

  • Original language description

    Amplification of femtosecond pulses using an ultra-narrowband gaseous laser as a driver in an OPCPA system was demonstrated for the first time. An iodine photodissociation laser pumped LBO and KDP crystal. Pulses of a Ti:sapphire laser were stretched from 12.5 fs to 250 ps and amplified 2x10^8 times with a typical bandwidth of 50 nm. After compression down to 27 fs an output power of 0.5 TW was achieved. Broadband pulses at 800 nm central wavelength were amplified in the KDP crystal for the first time.A kilojoule iodine laser would produce petawatt pulses in large aperture KDP crystals.
