Minimum entropy production principle
Original language description
We review the status of the MINimum Entropy Production principle as an approximate variational characterization of steady states for thermodynamically open systems maintained out of equilibrium. It is explained how recent dynamical fluctuation theories provide a framework for the precise formulation, unification and systematic improvement of MINEP and related variational principles.
