Preparation and crystal growth of Eu:SrI2 single crystals by modified micro-pulling-down method is presented. The influence of the Eu2+ and Eu3+ doping, introduced as EuI2 and EuCl3, on the optical, luminescence, and scintillation properties as well as on the decay time is analyzed.
