Non-stoichiometry in Cs2HfCl6 material and study of its influence on the CsCl-HfCl4 phase diagram using DSC-TG analysis

  • Original language description

This paper reports on the investigation of the undoped Cs2HfCl6 with stoichiometric and non-stoichiometric composition by DSC thermal analysis. Five set of Cs2HfCl6 samples were studied: one stoichiometric with content of CsCl and HfCl4 2:1 and four non-stoichiometric with deficit (5 and 10 mol%) and excess (5 and 10 mol%) of HfCl4. All five samples of Cs2HfCl6 material were enclosed under vacuum in sealed quartz ampules and measured by the non-isothermal simultaneous differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetry (DSC-TG) analysis. The goal of this work is to investigate the behaviour of Cs2HfCl6 in enclosed system and evaluate the influence of Cs2HfCl6 non-stoichiometry on its thermal properties, i.e. characteristic temperatures of various phase transitions. This analysis contributes to the improvement and optimization of the conditions for crystal growth of the Cs2HfCl6 from the melt by the Bridgman method.n
