  • Original language description

    Laser driven ion and electron acceleration has been the focus of scientific research for several decades now [1, 2]. The development of short pulse (multi)-peta‑ watt class lasers with ultra-high field intensities, such as at the ELI Beamlines Centre, provides the future possibility of generation of high-quality beams of ac‑ celerated protons and electrons through laser target interaction, which could replace very expensive par‑ ticle accelerators, e.g. in hospitals for biomedical applications.
