Dynamic quenching of self-induced and self-sustaining avalanches in double-trenched LGADs
Original language description
This paper revisits and revises earlier findings on self-induced and self-quenched avalanches in double trench isolated LGADs, triggered by surface generation current from trench-induced defects in the inter pad region. The key aspects presented in this work are: 1) self-sustained avalanches, seeded by dark current, require a positive feedback between electron impact ionization in the gain layer and hole impact ionization at trench corners, influenced by the curvature and density of electric field lines, 2) quenching depends on the suppression of the local electric field at the gain layer and trench corners.
