Possible improvement of the IRI Te model and its comparison with recent data
Original language description
A new global empirical model of the electron temperature for the upper and topside ionosphere has been recently developed by Truhlik et al. (2011). It includes variations with solar activity and is based on data from the GSFC/IAP database of in-situ electron temperature measurements. For modeling the rst order variations of Te (local time, latitude and altitude) we have employed the spherical-harmonics-type formalism used by the two model options that are currently included in IRI: the Brace-Theis ISIS-AE-C-E model and the Truhlik-Triskova-Smilauer Intercosmos model.
