    Investigation of the interplanetary (IP) shock formation may clarify our understanding of energy transfer on dierent spatial scales in space plasmas and particle acceleration at shock waves. We present an automated detection algorithm that is able to identify an IP shock arrival in real-time data stream. This algorithm may be implemented onboard the future Solar Orbiter space mission for triggering the transmission of the high resolution data during the IP shock crossings.
