    EMIC wave interaction with relativistic electrons and heavy ions in inner magnetosphere

    We analyze the full kinetic linear dispersion relations of electromagnetic ion-cyclotron (EMIC) waves in thermal plasmas with multiple ion components and temperature anisotropies, characteristic for the equatorial inner magnetosphere. We nd that in the full kinetic description EMIC waves can be generated inside the /stop bands", where they cannot exist in the coldplasma approximation. Besides, the wave spectrum is limited in wave numbers: all wave numbers above k p=vA experience strong cyclotron damping. Furthermore, we show that in the cyclotron resonance condition between EMIC waves and relativistic electrons the wave frequency is negligible.
