Observations of wave activity in the ionosphere on geomagnetically quiet and disturbed days
Original language description
Waves of periods between 30 and 360 s were observed in the ionospheric F region on the geomagnetically quiet day of 6 November 2012 and on the geomagnetically disturbed day of 2 October 2013 during the initial phase of the geomagnetic storm (minimum Dstwas -67 nT at 08:00 a.m. UT). On both days, the waves emerged in the time interval of total length of several hours starting after midnight. Observations of the short period waves require high sampling frequency of the measurements. Such type of ionospheric measurements is feasible by Doppler sounders. The multipoint and multifrequency Doppler sounder is operated in the Czech Republic and it enables to study horizontal as well as vertical propagation of the waves. We estimated propagation parameters ofthe observed 30-360 s waves and compared the results for the geomagnetically quiet and disturbed period. Vertically propagating infrasound was observed on the geomagnetically quiet day. On the disturbed day, a possible relation of the ion
