The effect of MSTIDs and related ionospheric disturbances on the accuracy of GNSS based positioning is demonstrated by analysis using experimentally obtained data. Here we present results using by far the most common application: stand-alone GNSS receivers using SBAS (specifically EGNOS as measured in CentralnEurope). In this study we do not present positioning deviation results obtained using RTK/PPP techniques. We have undertaken comparisons with different types of GNSS receivers, some of them co-locatted or even measuring on common antenna (antenna splitter was used to distribute the signal), which was also done with scintillation monitoring receiver. nAs the results were similar (and bigger in scale) using low-cost GNSS receivers, we focus at presenting the outcomes using measurements of advanced GNSS Septentrio Mosaic X-5 receiver providing comparison with periods having all the indicators of ionospheric disturbances available. There were found effects on EGNOS-supported GNSS positioning deviations even using advanced geodetic Septentrio and Trimble GNSS receivers to be significantly related to some ionospheric disturbances, showing trend of positioning deviations with the MSTID activity-related ionospheric disturbances monitored by the CDSS. This main result demonstrates the ionospheric HF Doppler shift to provide best indications of GNSS positioning accuracy deviations, showing higher positive GNSS altitude deviations during positive CDSS Doppler shifts dF (and vice-versa with more negative altitude deviations during negative CDSS dF)
