Original language description

The contribution discusses urban sustainability features in historical cities which developed as multifunctional organisms with different levels of functional priorities. It presents selected examples and lessons learned in important cultural heritage historical cities of different size - from a local micro-regional centre to the country capital. Some impact of tourism on cultural heritage values and the quality of life in these cities is documented and further some benefits of cooperation of municipalities with research bodies are shown. The presented cases illustrate typical problems associated with mass tourism in historical cities and their mitigation through specific management and urban planning instruments based on research results of European or national projects. Special attention is paid to future research needs as they have been identified by international panels composed from European specialists working at specialized ARCCHIP workshops

Uvádí vybrané příklady a poučení z řízení historických měst různé velikosti a ze spolupráce vědeckých institucí s místní samosprávou.Ukazuje typické problémy rozvoje cestovního ruchu v historických městech a možnosti jejich řešení pomocí vhodného plánování a správy. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována identifikaci potřeb dalšího výzkumu
