Original language description
The paper presents recent discoveries and analysis of tool marks on historic timber structures which help to understand ancient carpentry techniques and work processes. There are further shown examples of restoration practices based on traditional carpentry approaches. In the last part, research results supporting revival of carpentry into engineering design are discussed by means of comparison of load carrying capacity and deformation behaviour of halved carpentry joints against bolted joints

Článek přináší výsledky nedávných objevů a analýz stop tesařských nástrojů na povrchu historických konstrukcí, které pomáhají porozumět starým tesařským technikám a pracovním postupům. Dále uvádí příklady restaurátorských zásahů založených na tradičníchtesařských postupech. V poslední části jsou porovnávány výsledky výzkumu chování plátového spoje, provedeného jednak klasickou tesařskou technologií, jednak současným svorníkovým způsobem a diskutována výhodnost tradičních přístupů oproti používaným inženýrským metodám
