Optical properties of degraded historic stone and mortar surfaces
Original language description
In this paper the optical method for quantitative assessment of the state of surface of the cultural heritage (CH) object is presented. The technique is based on the evaluation of brightness and color saturation characteristics of the object surface acquired by portable scanner. The method is demonstrated on sandstone specimen and on mortar surfaces of selected CH monuments. Quantitative results are linked to survey investigating a public opinion on visual appearance of those monuments.
