Original language description
For the research of protective devices, the understanding of the relationship between stiffness of the protective liner, impacting mass and the resulting protective properties is needed. If so, one is able to interpret the physical meaning of the acceleration history of a dummy head embedded in protective helmet during a drop test. The paper is focused on comparison of experimental and numerical approaches in testing of XPS brick (simulating protective liner) with polycarbonate layers of different thicknesses (simulating shell) impacted by metal hammer. Piezoelectric accelerometer is used for the acceleration history measurement.
