Based on the tests, conducted on steel plate girders where web panels are subjected to many times repeated predominantly shear, the authors establish user-friendly formulae for (i) maximum web slenderness, (ii) maximum load acting on the web such that the effect of web breathing can entirely be disregarded in the design of economic-fabrication steel bridge girders.

Czech description
Na základě experimentů s ocelovými tenkostěnnými nosníky, jejichž stěny jsou namahány opakovaně převládajícím smykem, byly stanoveny jednoduché formule pro (i) maximální štíhlost stěny, (ii) maximální zatížení stěny tak, že vliv dýchání může být při návrhu hospodárně vyráběných ocelových mostů úplně zanedbán.
