Comparison of results of measuring by current NDT methods with results obtained by a new device for wood mechanical resistance measuring
Result description
The aim of the paper is to compare traditionally used diagnostic methods for an assessment of timber integrated in historical buildings with a newly proposed method of pin pushing. The new method of a diagnostic instrument for an ?in situ timber assessment is based on the principle of measuring mechanical resistance against a tool (pin) penetration into wood. Experimental measuring was conducted using three softwood beams with damaged endings extracted from a historical building of an old citizen?s house in Prague. After cutting, the beams were analyzed for their physical and mechanical properties using standard samples. The results were used for a verification of measuring by specific NDT devices.
