This paper examines the influence of destructive activities of wood-damaging fungi on changes in impact bending strength of structural timber. The experiment explores the influence of exposure time of six species of wood-damaging fungi commonly appearingin wooden building structures on the impact bending strength in three selected species of coniferous and deciduous wood used for building purposes. The test of impact strength was carried out on specimens prepared from the wood of Norway spruce (Picea abies), Scots pine (Pinus silvestris) and pedunculate oak (Quercus robur) exposed, under laboratory conditions, to the three species of wood-damaging fungi causing brown (dry) rot (Serpula lacrymans, Conophora puteana and Gloeophyllum trabeum)
