Testing historic materials for redesign purposes
Original language description
Design and redesign process of historic structures is often supported with various standards for testing of material and structural characteristics. In the case of historic structures, the use of standards to establish the material characteristics of in-situ structural elements is sometimes required. This paper analyzes possibilities of use of destructive or non-destructive methods for testing historic structures, the questions of transformation of experimental data into design values as well as sampling of material extracted from the historic structures. Case studies of testing of timber structures, roof tiles and historic masonry are included.
