Rotational Stiffness of Connection of Sheeting and Cold-Formed Beam
Result description
Behaviour of Z- or C-shaped cold-formed beams is influenced by the rotational spring stiffness provided by sheeting, which is connected to one flange of the beam. This rotational stiffness can be determined by tests, by calculation based on tabulated values or by simplified conservative calculations. This paper gives an alternative calculation procedure that is based on flexibility of the connected structural members (sheeting and beam flange). Set of tests was executed and it served, together with other set of tests, for the evaluation of the method. Results of available calculation procedures are compared with test results and the proposed method gives the closest agreement.
