Original language description
An accurate representation of time dependent inelastic response of polymeric composite systems with disordered microstructures is developed within the framework of classical homogenization method. A graphite fiber tow is selected as an example of such systems. The matrix phase may undergo an inelastic deformation conveniently described by the generalized Leonov model. Two different approach are examined. In the firts approach, the complicated real microstructure is directly incorporated into the finiteelement analysis within the framework of periodic unit cells. In the second approach, the random character of microstructure enters the variation princples of Hashin and Shtrikman in form of certain statistical descriptors. Applicability of both approaches is furtehr tested in conjunction with multiscale analysis of woven composite tubes
