The Stress Field of Rectangular Prismatic Dislocation Loops

  • Original language description

The sweeping of small dipolar loops by gliding dislocation is thought to be one of the mechanisms leading to dislocation pattern formation during cyclic deformation. In the recent papers by Kratochvíl, Kroupa and Kubin the individual sweeping event was calculated within the framework of isotropic linear elasticity for an infinite straight gliding dislocation and a rigid dipolar prismatic loop. In the present paper a flexible glide dislocation segment and a finite rigid loop are considered. The interacting loop and segment are moved by the applied stress in a channel of idealized wall structure. The shape of the dislocation segment as well as the behavior of the dipolar loop result from the numerical solution of equations of a motion and a balance of forces acting on the glide dislocation and the dipolar loop
