The work proposes a non-contact optical method for measurement of moisture, which is based on the interaction of the optical wave field with the investigated sample of the building material. Due to moistening of the sample, the physical properties are changed, i.e. the reflectivity is changed and the scattering characteristic of the surface is also modified. By analysis of scattered light, it is possible determine the moisture of the sample
