Block Pavements, Design Considerations
Original language description
In the paper, the different approach to the block pavement performance evaluation is proposed: (a) macromechanical properties of the block layer are determined using microstructural modelling, which results in transversely isotropic material model for the block layer mechanical behaviour, (b) the generalized pavement computational layered model is used, allowing isotropic as well as transversally isotropic layers, to calculate required strains in order to evaluate pavement performance from the standardpavement design criteria. The paper is concluded with numerical study, comparing block pavement evaluation results based on different "standard" approaches with results obtained by our approach.
