    Non-Linear Homogenization of Quarry Masonry

  • Original language description

The present contribution addresses a specific application of a two-scale material model to qaurry masonry forming the filling of the Charles Bridge in Prague. The first scale (mesostructural or mesoscopic) serves to determine the effective properties ofmasonry and to construct nonlinear paths macroscopic stress vs. macroscopic strain. To this end, a certain Periodic Unit Cell (PUC) is proposed. The behaviour of individual phases (arenaceous marl stones and mortar) is described by the plasticfracturingmodel implemented in the ATENA computer code. The input data of the current model are the tensile and compressive strength, the modulus of elasticity, and the specific fracture energy. On macroscopic scale the analysis is generally carried out on a three-dimensional segment of the bridge. In this paper we restrict ourselves to the presentation of a macroscopic response of a cross-section of the bridge due to temperature impact, which is obtained under the plane strain description.

    Nelineární homogenizace lomového zdiva
