Effects of Representative Cube Size on the Simulation of Portland Cement Hydration in CEMHYD3D Model
Original language description
Numerical algorithms on continuous or discrete representation are employed for the simulation of a cement paste hydration. The size of initial microstructure is often overestimated for accuracy reasons, but with certain expected error the size can be decreased. Statistics of Rosin-Ramler distribution of coarse and fine cements reveal no correlation with the microstructure size during CEMHYD3D simulation when quantifying the overall degree of hydration. It is demonstrated that if an error less than 10 %is required after three hours of hydration, cube edge size from 20 to 50 m can be used for an arbitrary type of a cement, depending only on the water-to-cement ratio of the cement paste.
