Elastic Modeling of Functionally Graded Materials: One Dimensional Case
Original language description
The goal of this work is to make the first step in formulating a stochastic model of functionally graded materials. The model itself is systematically derived from a fully penetrable sphere microstructural model introduced by Quintanilla and Torquato. The statistics of local fields then follow from re-formulation of the Hashin-Shtrikman variational principles. To allow for analysis of finite bodies with arbitrary geometry, an appropriate numerical procedures based on the Finite Element discretization aswell as the Boundary Element method.
