Influence of Yield Function on Modelling of Mechanical Response of Soil Materials
Original language description
In this contribution the influence of the shape of the yield surface of the elasto-plastic material model for soils is examined. In particular, the formulation of the modified Cam clay model is generalized in attempt to reduce its unrealistic softening behaviour that occurs for the heavily overconsolidated materials. More accurate response is achieve by substituting the original yield surface in the dilatancy domain by the formulation, that correspond better to the classical Mohr-Coulomb. Further, the cohesion and the dependency of the yield function on the Lode angle, which appear crucial for reaching accurate results, is adopted. This modification allows to fit approximately the Mohr-Coulomb yield criterion while taking the critical state concept ofmodified Cam clay model into account.
