Original language description
Glued laminated timber (glulam) is an highly engineered building material, extending in many cases the traditional use of solid timber. The main reason for this is that the production process provides a number of advantages compared with solid timber. Glulam beams are produced by gluing together laminations by end jointing boards to the required length. It is generally assumed that the lamination results in a strength increase; that there is a lamination effects.
