    Indentation Tests on GaAs: Modelling of the Plastic Zone

    The stress distribution around an indent is calculated with the help of different analytical elastic solutions- stress field of Hill, Boussinesq, Mindlin are presented. These stress fields are compared by calculating the shape and dimensions of the plastically deformed regions. From it follows that although is the spherical symmetric Hill field quit simple, it describes correctly the plastic zone around Vickers indents in {001} GaAs crystals. Alternatively to the analytical solutions, the stress field is calculated numerically with use of the finite element method. The results are in agreement with electron microscope observations and the suitability of the spherical stress field

    Rozložení napětí pod identorem je určeno na základě anlytických řešení Hilla, Boussinesqa a Mindlina. Tato napěťová pole jsou porovnána s vypočtenými tvary a rozměry plasticky deformovaných oblastí pod indentorem u GaAs. Jako nejpresnější se ukázal odhadzaložený na Hillově aproximaci. Jako alternativa k analytickým odhadům byl proveden výpočet metodou konečných elementů, který vykazuje dobrou shodu s elektronově mikroskopickými pozorováními, a prokázal vhodnost Hillovy sférické aproximace
