Measuring of volume changes of cement pastes during solidification and hardening
Original language description
Prevention of failures of building structures due to micro-cracks is one of the main and most typical topics of civil engineer research. The appearance of cracks leads to lower quality of building structures and to lower durability, which limits frequently a full functionality of the building. As the most important concrete quality used to be considered mechanical strength in disregard of its microstructure. However, high performance concrete (HPC) has recently been often used in building construction and it appears that large amount of such concrete structures deteriorate substantially faster than it was originally expected.
