Determination of frictional pressure drop in mixture flow above erodible stationary bed in pipe
Original language description
While stratified flows with sliding beds have been subjects to extensive investigation during last thirty years, virtually no investigation has been conducted on the pipe flows of slurry with a stationary bed. This article proposes a predictive model fora determination of the frictional pressure loss in a pipeline transporting slurries under the condition of the existence of an erodible stationary bed at the bottom of the pipe. For medium to coarse sand slurries the proposed predictive model seems to produce significantly better results than the only one comparable existing predictive model.
