Tracer method for experimental determination of the hydraulic roughness
Original language description
The hydraulic behaviour is affected with a size of obstacles, distance between them, etc. It is necesarry to involve these aspects into the hydrodynamic models. It exist some tool, which substitute these structural failures according to European standartEN 13508-2 with friction loss, but the current version does not take to account effect of relative position of obstacles. These effects can be detected with tracer method. The principle of the tracer experiment is the measurement of the response of conductivity in two sections, in front of obstacle and behind the obstacle in time. These data are the input for the transport modelling the 1D Advection-Dispersion equation (ADE) for longitudinal mixing of solutes. Further, the dispersion coefficient and Manning-Strickler roughness coefficient are optimalized. Most experiments were made on the physical model of PVC pipe. It was set a size, position, number of obstacles and their combination before a start of the experiment.
