Comparison of Single and Multi-Objective Curve Fitting

  • Original language description

This paper presents an alternative to the classical approach of material parameters estimation or curve fitting problems. The purpose of the paper is to determine whether the more common single-objective or the multi-objective way is better with respectto a given criterion. The comparison is demonstrated on two artificial curves with known mathematical formula to assess the accuracy. Then one real problem, particularly the fitting of a curve describing the time-heat relationship during the cement pastehydration process, is investigated. Three approaches are discussed: a pure single-objective optimization, a multi-objective problem transformed into the single-objective one using a weighted sum method and a multi-objective optimization.
